Supporting new business in Narrandera
Our Narrandera team are extremely pleased to have partnered with business owner Harry for his recruitment as he opened his new IGA store recently!
Sureway Consultants Amie and Leeann connected with Harry while the store was still under construction, approaching the businessman to chat about his plans for recruitment and any particular skills he would be needing.
More than happy for a chat, Harry advised that also owns several other IGAs in Lake Cargelligo, Hillston, Condobolin, and West Wyalong where he had successfully worked with the local Sureway teams in the past. He tasked Leeann and Amie with sourcing candidates for 15-20 roles at the new store.
In addition to providing Harry with a range of suitable candidates from the Sureway caseload, Amie and Leeann accepted resumes from locals who were interested in the new opportunities and helped provide information on what the business was seeking. One less task for Harry to handle as he prepared for opening day!
At least 4 Sureway PARTICIPANTS have been successful to date in gaining employment at the new store, including 1 Stream C and 3 Stream B.
During August, Steph Cooke MP and Neville Kschenka, Mayor of Narrandera visited the new store for a tour and discussion about the opportunities that the business will bring to the region.
Harry invited Amie and Leeann to attend so that he could explain how they supported his business to recruit as he focused on his new store set-up.

To establish a long-term plan for Harry’s recruitment needs, Amie and Leeann have engaged Western Riverina Community College in Leeton to deliver accredited training courses in Food Handling, Food Safety Supervisor and Responsible Services of Alcohol (RSA) to ensure candidate suitability to work in the Deli and liquor sales areas of the store.
